The White Coat Ceremony marks a transformation for students entering their clinical phase of medical school.
This event occurs during the transition between Phase 1 and Phase 2 of medical school, which is between the second and third year of training.
The short white coats worn by medical students elicit patients’ high expectations of the doctor-patient relationship. In the presence of family, friends and faculty members, students are welcomed into the medical community by leaders of the school.

Both the entrance facing Alabama Street and the entrance facing New Jersey Street will be open. Students should wear business attire and bring their white coats (clean and wrinkle-free).
Parking
Old National Centre’s main lot is in front of the marquee and is entered from Alabama Street. The north lot is located at the corner of North Street and New Jersey Street and is entered from North Street. Parking in the main lot is $20-25 and parking in the north lot is $15-20. Find additional nearby parking locations on Old National Center's parking map.
Please allow sufficient time to find parking and walk to the Old National Centre for on-time arrival (2:30 p.m. for students).
The event will be live-streamed via the IU School of Medicine Facebook page for others to view.
Tickets
Students in the class have the opportunity to make reservations for their friends and family to attend. Tickets that were ordered will be sent to students beginning the week of April 1 via email. Each student will need a ticket as well as all guests. To receive tickets, students must:
- Create a Live Nation account using their IU email address at livenation.com.
- Add the Live Nation app to their smartphone.
- Watch their email for a message from Live Nation Concerts (noreply@ticketmaster.com). That message will contain tickets. View instructions for accepting tickets and transferring tickets to guests.
